Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems of the home welfare services and to provide the suggestion for improvement plan of these services.
Methods: A literature review was used to perform this study, which included a field study carried out in Korea.
Results: The problem of the home welfare services were identified as follows, The criteria for the beneficiaries are not clear, the programs are not customized to meet beneficiaries needs, the separation of the departments and administrative organizations, and poor financial support, The improvement plans to solve these problem were recommended as follows. First, the criteria to select senile people should be modified in terms of qualitative and quantitative aspect. Second, professional customized services should be extended to the home based senile people suffering from various disease, Third, it is desirable to enhance the rehabilitation service for the aged, Fourth, it is necessary to operate integrated home welfare services, Fifth, it is necessary to solve the financial difficulties through integrated service networks,
Conclusion: The ultimate goal of home welfare services for senile people may lie in protection of community or social integration Just beyond the simple welfare services
